BenaCel® is absorbable, hemostatic gauze, made of highly purified oxidized regenerated cellulose. BenaCel® acts instantly to control bleeding. Upon contact with blood, BenaCel® will absorb the blood and expand, transforming into a sticky, gelatinous material. By applying gentle pressure at this point, BenaCel® will adhere to the wound, sealing the ends of the venous capillaries.
